I have always used separate macros for each target on my paladin (in arena), and then another macro exactly the same with a different name for my other team member. ie: /cast [target=persephonex] Hand of Freedom. Without a modifier it will use speed potion, if you hold down shift and click on it it will use Mana (this example is the alchemist version, change if if you're not an alchemist). So I had to change the macro to using Alt-3 for Hibernate, and Ctrl-3 for Roots, to avoid that interference.
